Many people have reported experiences of seeing ghosts in Paris, and brought back tales of the sightings to their respective native countries. One effective method of avoiding ghosts is not to disturb them in any way and as give them their space. The Catacombs is aptly described as a world of the dead under the city of lights. It is spread over a vast area of approximately two hundred miles, only a small portion of which is open to the public. The rest of the area is off limits to visitors and is tightly guarded by the police and other security officers. It is highly unadvisable to disturb the Catacombs, which is known for its ghostly nature. The Catacombs is arranged in the form of a maze, which makes it more complicated to navigate and adds a sense of fright for visitors. Those daring enough to disturb some of the billions of skulls and bones that are scattered throughout this place are not spared by the ghostly hosts of the Catacombs. This famous notorious attraction is rich in history, with activity dating back to many years ago.

Cemeteries in Paris were overcrowded due to the increasing number of deaths at the hand of incurable diseases. Consequently, graveyards filled up quickly and authorities were forced to dump all the skeletons, made up of skulls and bones, at a single site. In an effort to make the Catacombs a potential tourist attraction, the caretakers arranged the skeletons in an interesting way and opened it to the general public. The effect was immediate, as the number of tourists from around the world increased significantly. However, the maze format makes it so difficult to maintain that it took quite a long time before a hotel could be established in this dreadful place. Secret organizations have also been known to conduct meetings at the Catacombs for ages. This historic site certainly sounds interesting, and actually visiting in person proves this point.

Moving on from the Catacombs, the epitome of romance is none other than the city of lights, commonly known as Paris. This city has much more to offer than just the Eiffel tower, as there is a long list of popular tourist attractions. One can explore the city in a relaxed manner and some may prefer to walk around streets to better appreciate its beauty. Many people who visit feel that it is a pleasure to get lost in the city. Each and every single place in Paris has something to offer. The rich architecture and sheer essence of romance are evident throughout the city and not just limited to a few places. However, most people consider a visit to be futile if one does not experience the legendary Eiffel Tower. The magnificence of the tower is clearly visible during the day and is equally mesmerizing at night with its beautiful lights. The view of the city from the Eiffel tower at night justifies its label as the city of lights. It is truly a splendid view that everyone should experience at some point in time. At the mid level of the tall tower there is an excellent restaurant where people can enjoy authentic food while looking over the city of romance. The records of the city of Paris show that it is a common practice to leave a ten percent tip at restaurants. One can enjoy the sparsely crowded areas at night as well. However, the tower is usually the most crowded tourist destination in Paris. The tower was built for the World Fair in 1889 and was designed by the great Gustave Eiffel. At the time, it was the tallest structure in the entire world.

Other destinations frequently visited by tourists are Notre Dame, the Louvre, and the Arc de Triomphe. The latter was built by Napoleon the Great. Napoleon constructed the Arc as a tribute to celebrate the victory of his soldiers. It is very difficult to get to the Arc de Triomphe since it is necessary to cross a number of roads and junctions to reach the main site. It is difficult to imagine that after reaching the Arc, there is also a group of unknown soldiers buried under it. This was done in memory of the many people who died during World War I. There is also a museum just waiting to be explored at the Arc. It is a very interesting museum situated directly near the main site.

The Germans are known for marching under this arc after their most noteworthy victory in the First World War. The funeral parade for Napoleon was designed to pass through the arc. Apart from all these important events, the military parade conducted for the French National Day also starts at the arc.

This museum not only has the exclusive pride of being home to one of the greatest art epic Mona Lisa, but also many other preserved artifacts. This place can be extremely crowded which makes the wait quite long, comparatively to the Eiffel Tower. The museum or rather the father of all museums is home to around 35,000 art works.
