GETTING THERE TO ANGOLA

Visit (392 times)

When visitng Angola, getting there requires some planning ahead. Almost all nationalities must secure a visa, and passports must be valid for at least six months with two blank pages left in the booklet. A series of vaccinations must be taken before being allowed to enter Angola. Also, an invitation from a private citizen, organization or company must be presented in the form of a letter before you can enter Angola.

Flights

Many travelers fly into Luanda-4-de-Fevereiro, an airport just outside of the capital city, Luanda. Regular flights can be taken from Portugal, France and Britain. Flights from other African countries such as Johannesburg, South Africa, Windhoek, Namibia, Harare, Zimbabwe, Kinshasa, Congo can also be taken. A few weekly flights from Rio de Janeiro have recently been added. In 2009, Delta Airlines started offering a flight from Atlanta to Luanda via Sal Island. If you are traveling to the city of Cabina, you can take a helicopter or a private jet.

By Car

Driving to Angola is quite a challenge. However, you can enter the country from the north through Namibia. Driving is highly discouraged during the rainy season, and the roads in Angola are never in good shape. Driving from the DRC or Zambia is not recommended.

By Boat
