WHAT TO DO IN ARMENIA

Consider seeing churches and other religious buildings, that are built more than 1700 years ago. Such constructions are almost everywhere. One particularly interesting Church is in Khor Virap, located a short drive from Yerevan. Close to the Armenian-Turkish border, this ancient monastery is a perfect place to observe Mount Ararat in it's full beauty.

Armenia is a small country perfect for those who like mountain biking, trekking and hiking. The Caucasus Mountains let you to enjoy different activities that you can't do in other places. Your tour will be best if you will bring friends or family members who share the same passion.

Different travel and tour agencies offer different travel packages to Caucasus but most of them provide a package for mountain biking and for mountain hiking. If you are into biking, Lake Sevan is the best place for you. You can enjoy swimming and boating at this lake. This is also good for people looking for a perfect place to relax. You can stay at the Marak Tsapatagh Hotel, which is just near the lake.

Martuni trail has 30 kilometers biking distance that covers traditional villages of Martuni and a long winding dirty road. This trail is just right for trial biking. Martuni trail will prepare you for the next coming days full of biking adventures. This is also the first step to a different Armenia travel experience. Mozrov trail is next to Martuni but you have to move to Arpi Wine Market to get there. Adrenaline-seekers must try this biking trail as it begins the real adventure that you people are looking for. The track starts with several kilometers of amazing landscapes then to a rocky road that will bring you to an impressive plateau where you will find the entrance to the Mozrov cave. Passing the Mozrov village to a 15 kilometer downhill biking, the trail ends in Vayk.

If your Caucasus tour is about walking, trekking and hiking, Armenia offers the perfect places that will give you the kind of adventure that you need. However, if you want a good background on Armenian highlands, you may want to pay a visit to the famous Museum of Armenian History. To start your hiking adventure, you need to go to Geghard. Start your adventure with a unique reserve - the Khosrov Nature Reserve. This forest is different from others as it homes the endangered and rare species of Armenia. Such species are Caucasian leopard, black vulture and Armenian mouflon. The trail is 9 kilometers that will take you a maximum of 8 hours to complete. Your Armenia travel adventure can also bring you to some wildflowers and abundant birdlife. Hiking in Dilijan National Park will give you an amazing nature viewing experience. The stunning forest trail in Dilijan National Park is about 8 kilometers that passes Areguni and the Goshavank Monastery.

Since you are already in Armenia, you might want to consider having a Georgia Caucasus travel tour. Georgia is equally beautiful and offers exiting places like Dmanisi Ruins and Bolnisi Sioni. The Georgian dishes and wine are one of the best. You will never want to miss their traditionally cooked food with traditional Georgian spices. Travelling from Armenia to Georgia will take you several hours. If you take it by bus or train, you will see beautiful sceneries along the way.
