Brazil is the 5th largest country on earth. With its 8.5 million square kilometres it takes nearly half of South America. About 190 million people live in Brazil and it is one of the most densely populated countries in the world.
Brazil is divided into several areas: the tropical north Amazon basin, the middle west of the Brazil schildes, the dry area northeast, the south with the Pantanal area and the coastal region in the southeast.
The climate of this impressing country depends on its geographical location. There are five major climate subtypes: equatorial, tropical, semiarid, highland tropical, and temperate. Many regions have microclimates. The most rain is in the Amazon area and the average temperature is approximately 27 degrees Celsius. In the northeast it rains during some months very strongly and in the following months the country dries again totally due to lack of rain. Most areas of Brazil have tropical rainfall at some point during the year.
The diversity of species of this fascinating country is amazing. The richness of the primates, amphibians and plant types is breath taking. Particularly the almost innumerable bird, butterfly and reptile species are overwhelming for interested ones.
The Brazilians are generally known as very proud and religious people, who celebrate gladly, enjoy dancing and have a hot temper.
