USEFUL INFORMATION IN BRUNEI

Brunei is an Islamic state with a Muslim majority. You need to be fluent on the dos and don'ts to enjoy traveling and tourism in Brunei.

-Do dress modestly when attending public functions.
-Don't overdo the alcohol in Brunei. The sale of alcohol is allowed to non-Muslims but it is limited to 2 bottles of alcohol and 12 cans of beer for private consumption. Several hotels in Brunei serve alcohol but it is advised to take it in moderation.
-Do to take off your shoes when visiting a mosque. Women are required to cover their heads and wear a dress that covers their knees and arms.

Brunei Visa Policy

• US citizens are allowed a 90 day visa.

• Citizens of Britain, Ireland, Malaysia, Germany, New Zealand, Singapore and Holland can obtain a 30 day visa.

Citizens of Belgium, Japan, Canada and Sweden are allowed a 14 day stay without any visa.

Power Supply
In  Brunei they use a three pin type of plug (as shown)
The output is 240 Volts with a Frequency of 50 Hertz.

Climate 
Bandar Seri Begawan has a hot humid climate.

Summer    June to August -           average day time temperature   32ºC
Autumn   September to November - average day time temperature   31ºC
winter    December to February -    average day time temperature   30ºC
Spring     March to May -                average day time temperature   31ºC 

Temperatures in summer can reach as high as 38ºC and in winter as low as 20ºC
The wettest months of the year are between August and December.


What to wear 
Due to the hot humid climate light clothes made of natural fiber materials such as cotton should be worn. The wearing of clothing made from artificial fiber materials such as nylon is not recommended. Sweaters may be required at night during the cool season. Jackets and ties may be required to be worn at some restaurants and nightclubs. Neat clothing should be worn if visiting temples or mosques. This is a Muslim country and women should dress conservatively.

Visas 
International visitors to Brunei are required to be in possession of a valid passport and many will require a visa to obtain entry into the country. Check here to see if you require a visa. Visas are issued from Brunei Embassies and Consulates around the world.

Health 
International visitors to Brunei are not required to have vaccinations unless they have visited a Yellow-Fever infected area in the past. However,  visitors to Brunei are advised to check with their local doctor regarding vaccinations (at least 4 weeks prior to travel). There are a number of state health clinics and hospitals. Travel health insurance is recommended.
